ABOUT
THE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE WEEK
The
English Outdoor Council
The English Outdoor Council is an
umbrella body of organisations involved in the provision of outdoor education,
recreation and development training. Its work
involves:
• promoting the benefits of outdoor experiences
• encouraging high quality, sustainable provision
• increasing opportunities for participation in adventurous activities and
experiences outdoors
• lobbying policy makers to achieve this.
The Outdoor Adventure Week runs during
the week 25th-31st May 2008. It has three aims:
To achieve a greater understanding among the general public of the scope
of outdoor
provision and the benefits of participation, with the aim of increasing demand.
To promote the value of the outdoors as a venue for healthy exercise,
fresh air,
recreation and appreciation of the rural and natural environment.
To contribute to achieving a balanced view of risks and benefits and to
promote an
adventurous approach to life.
YOUR FACILITATOR
Ian Lewis works as a trainer in
experiential learning in the fields of PSD, management and media management
with a special interest in cause-related
marketing.
He worked on promotions, PR and press
management over 4 years with Bristol University Business School,
Saatchi & Saatchi,
Coca-Cola and 'Fifth Estate' and, following delivery of a series of training
events, wrote 'Marketing and the Youth Work' for the National Youth Agency.
